Hy4Dense
Project period 01-10-2018 - 30-09-2022
The European Interreg project Hy4Dense has started. In this project organizations from the Netherlands (Vertify), Belgium (Inagro and Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen), England (University of Essex and NIAB) and France are working together on the development of a - soil-free - system for the cultivation of crops sown on site water. The aim is to develop a system for high-quality production with the least possible impact on the environment.
Results of the project running until 2022 will be:
- A basic system for the production of crops sown on the spot.
- A cultivation manual with information about relevant cultivation factors such as varieties, climate, lighting and fertilization.
- A technical and economic feasibility study including the specifications of the system and automation concepts.
In the first phase, in addition to an inventory of conditions and requirements that such a cultivation system must meet, a creative process takes place. In addition to the aforementioned organizations, this process also involves parties from the entire chain - breeders, technical companies, growers, sales organizations. The results of this first phase will be translated into the design and construction of prototypes that will then be tested at different locations and different crops. The process builds on the experiences and knowledge gained with previously developed and tested systems.
The Hy4Dense Interreg project is co-financed by the province of Noord-Holland.
