The Dutch horticultural sector is known worldwide for its healthy and beautiful products, such as fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, trees and bulbs and starting materials for food and ornamental crops. This also applies to our expertise and know-how about plant health and crop protection. The Dutch horticultural sector has every interest in strengthening this leading position. The Top Sector Horticulture and Propagation Material has expressed this ambition in its innovation programs and facilitates research aimed at this.

The intended result of the project "green crop protection is the future" was to deliver a number of promising strategies with GNOs (crop protection of natural origin), seed treatments with sustainable products combined with integrated control in the greenhouse horticulture, flower bulbs, open field vegetables and arable farming sectors. This project consisted of five sub-projects;

  • Opportunities for GNOs in field vegetables
  • Natural protection of flower bulbs against fungi
  • Sustainable farming in open ground crops
  • Integrated control of greenhouse insects in floriculture
  • Opportunities for GNOs in greenhouse vegetables.
