In high-tech horticulture all kinds of innovations are occurring in the development of cultivation systems. The market for vegetables and flowers requires cultivation methods that are more sustainable. Both HAS University of Applied Sciences and Vertify have been researching closed cultivation without daylight and matching hydroponic cultivation methods, more known as cultivation on water, for years. Dozens of growers in the Netherlands now grow in LED cells and / or hydroponic cultivation systems. The trend of Vertical Farming and Urban Farming is also continuing worldwide. Trade, breeding and suppliers are committed to this new cultivation method. To make cultivation without daylight a success, in addition to knowledge about LED recipes, knowledge of Plant Physiology and Water Management in this cultivation system is also crucial. Vertify and HAS University of Applied Sciences are therefore organizing the joint hydroponics course in high-tech horticulture.
For whom
The course is intended for people from the horticultural sector who want to get more out of their water cultivation system, who are thinking about introducing closed cultivation under LED at their company or who want to seriously delve into hydroponics. The course is aimed at growers, (applied) researchers, (assistant) breeders, (assistant) managers and developers / consultants from the supply industry.
Program
The program of the “Hydroponics for high-tech horticulture” course consists of five course days, each with its own main theme. The parts covered during the course relate to the crucial factors in cultivation on water systems. HAS University of Applied Sciences and Vertify join forces for this course and draw on knowledge and experience from the research in recent years.
Day part 1: Water balance part 1 (plant physiology)
Day part 2: Water balance part 2 (plant physiology)
Day part 3: Water balance part 3 (plant physiology)
Day part 4: Fertilize, aerate, water temperature
Day part 5: Water consumption, water disinfection, diseases and pests on / in water
Program
The course days are organized at Vertify.
The course starts in March 2021 and consists of 5 meetings from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
